Academics

The Lower School at Town is comprised of grades K-4 and nurtures students' natural intellectual curiosity and excitement about learning as we help students develop core competencies for elementary school and beyond. In Lower School language arts, our boys become proficient readers, writers, and oral communicators. Our mathematics program trains students to use mathematical thinking to solve real-life problems. The Lower School curriculum also includes social studies, with an emphasis on cultural diversity and multiple perspectives, a hands-on science curriculum, PE, music and art.

The curriculum of the Upper School, which is comprised of grades 5-8, builds on the skills taught in the Lower School and is designed to develop both academic strengths and strength of character in our students. We work to give our boys the skills they will need to thrive in today's world. We balance teacher-directed learning with student-centered approaches that effectively foster critical thinking, problem solving, innovation, collaboration, and other key 21st century skills. Our students graduate well-prepared for high school and beyond.

For more detail, please visit our Lower School and Upper School pages, or visit the curriculum page at Inside Town School to learn more about each grade level. You will be able to choose a division (Upper or Lower School) as well as a grade level from the drop down menu, which will enable you to learn more about the core curriculum and our enrichment and elective opportunities at Town School for Boys.
