I have been teaching at Town School for twelve years. I
began teaching at Town in the intern program, and I worked in second and
fourth grades. I am originally from Virginia and have lived in San
Francisco for thirteen years. I went to the University of Virginia for my undergraduate
education, and I earned my teaching credential at San Francisco State
University. I love working at Town School where the students learn and
have fun at the same time.
It is my goal to help my students grow academically, emotionally
and socially. I believe that each student’s self esteem is very
important and central to his learning. It is my goal to connect with each
child. The classroom should be a fun and safe environment which is very
interesting and inviting. I believe in firm discipline, consequences for
misbehavior, and rewards for good behavior. I also believe in encouraging
students with positive feedback. I try to encourage students to be independent
and also offer support to those who need help. We have a lot of cooperative
group learning activities and we try to incorporate different learning
styles in our lessons. We emphasize respect and responsibility in second
grade.
