Slide Ranch
Second grade visited Slide Ranch, where they learned such
things as how to milk goats and create a compost pile. The real working
farm is also self-sustaining and environmentally-friendly.

Pumpkin "Carving" with Fruits and Vegetables
Since sharp knives are ill advised in
a second grade classroom, the students and parents enjoyed a fun morning
of original pumpkin “carving.” Using toothpicks and skewers
and fruits and vegetables, the second graders created their own pumpkin
characters. When they were finished, they named their new creations and
put them on display in the lunchroom for the rest of the school to see.

Our Chinatown Tour
After an informative tour of Chinatown, which included a
fortune cookie factory, Buddhist Temple and the food markets, we enjoyed a
full Chinese lunch. Thanks to Linda Lee of All About Chinatown
Tours. This field trip was a great culmination for our studies of
Chinese-Americans.
