Brett Lilienthal and Annie Stover welcome you to 4A!

Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year in the fourth grade at Town School!  We are thrilled to be teaching in 4A with all of the awesome boys in our class.

Brett Lilienthal: I was born and raised in San Francisco and after graduating from high school, I attended USC, where I received a BA and had a ball living in Southern California. After trying my hand at a variety of different careers, I participated in Town School’s intern program from 1994 to 1996. In the fall of 1996, I moved to New York City to attend Columbia University’s Masters program in education. After I received my degree, I taught all girls at The Spence School in Manhattan where I taught 4th grade for one year and 3rd grade for the next several years. Though I completely loved my time in Manhattan and at Spence, I also love being at Town School and working with the boys in 4A.

Annie Stover: As a native East-Coaster, I have lived in San Francisco for the last four years. I graduated from Colgate University in 2002 and then worked at The Winter Term School in Lenk, Switzerland for a season. I then spent some time substitute teaching before moving west. Upon arriving in SF I hit the advertising scene and quickly realized that it wasn't quite for me. So here I am in my first year as an intern at Town School and I am having a blast!

We believe school should be a fun, challenging, and safe environment for children to grow, learn, and take risks. Though all students’ learning styles differ, it is our goal to create a supportive and challenging setting that provides opportunities for all students to succeed. Fourth grade is also a very social year for the boys and as a result, it is crucial that the boys have a community atmosphere that exercises and expects kindness, respect, and an appreciation for the similarities and differences of others.
