The Tool

Bitten

Bruised

I am only being used

As one’s communication tool.

When the monster is finished with me

I lay on the ground

Hoping to be picked up again

For yet another round

When I have shrunk into insignificance,

My master loses track of me

I now have my independence

And it is quite short of catastrophe

-Tim Webber

The C+

Reviewing Latin

Studying Latin

So many words to learn

So many charts to learn

Stress

Staying up late

It’s eleven o’clock

Done studying, finally

Almost everything memorized

Off to bed

Going to school

Into the cafeteria

Receiving it

Working

Completing it finally

Checking

Turning it in

Getting it back

Damn it!

A C+

-Austin Ng

Positive

I stand at the edge.

This is madness.

All around me, the soft green of trees plays on the water.

Suddenly, Once bright colors swirl and strech, becoming a blur.

I hit with a splash, shooting down into the dark depths.

Will I come up?

My head breaks the surface of the crystal water.

Time to do it again.

-Atty Phlegler

Unfamiliar faces
Walking on the new streets.
Laying on the new bed.
Watching the new television.
Seeing the new faces.
I feel a memory of
Walking on the old streets.
Laying on the old bed.
Watching the old television.
Seeing the old faces.
Yet even though at first all these things feel out of place
I know in time
They will be
The new old streets.
The new old bed.
The new old television.
The new old faces.

-Logan Tribull

 Victory

The ball is wide.

Everyone Cheers.

Victory has come.

The moment is sweet.

Everyone is happy.

I raise my hands in joy.

My body is tired

But I feel no pain.

Adrenalin is running through my veins.

Today is great,

But tomorrow I work again

To reach another victory.

Break Down

 Stress

Pressure

Wondering why luck was not on his side

Anger

Frustration

Better luck next time

Negative Poem

The boy hears the shutting of a door.

The light he once knew is no more.

He senses the shadows begin to creep.

His heart begins its dark sleep.

What he has always held dear

Has fallen like a single tear.

He knows to find the light

But all he can find is eternal night.

-S. Swanson

LAND OF THE FREE

Corrupt officials,

A constitution with no meaning,

You can break the law and escape without a beating.

We cross seas to fight terrorism,

But there are gangs and terrorists still here livin’.

We lock up grandmas for evading their taxes,

But don’t worry about scary guys walking around with axes.

It’s OK if your vice-president shoots up his best friend,

As long as he says, “sorry, it was and accident.”

Everybody knows that their vote doesn’t count,

But they’re too scared to say anything for then the government’s pressure will amount,

And soon you’ll be a terrorist whose life doesn’t count.

Every one says this is the land of the free,

But you can’t say certain words like bomb,

And this sounds more like a dictatorship to me.

-Timothy Gonzalez-Crane

Landed

Pop...smack.
Every time I try, I fail.
But that does not stop me.
Though it is late,
and the sunlight is fading away by the minute,
I attempt the trick like it is my last try.
I look to the hotel, the bus is about to leave.
There is no time to stall.
Pop...smack, pop...smack, pop...smack.
Pop...smack, but this time the smack wasn't from my deck hitting the
ground.
My wheels had landed on the cold concrete and I proceeded o roll away.
Finally I can leave.

Orange chicken

Orange

Juicy

Full of flavor

Why?

Why did I have to leave you out?

My snack…

Wasted for tomorrow…

Man, I AM HUNGRY!

Ovaltine and Cordell Walker

Ovaltine and Cordell Walker

When I need to chill

I don’t take a pill,

I just head to the refrigerator,

I grab the milk and mix and head toward the Texas Ranger.

Because you see,

Ovaltine to me,

Or as just this side of heaven,

Teamed up with Trebeck and Cordell on channel 37.

So remember,

When you’re in Texas look behind you,

Cause that’s where a Rangers gonna be!

-Griffin Schafer

A Bad Decision

One who’s sensitive

One who’s kind

He never did anything to me

How would I like to be made fun of?

It wouldn’t feel very good

Not thinking before horrible words crawl out of my mouth

Sticking to my insides as I vomit them out

What was that for?

That’s not me

I’m also sensitive and kind

There’s no difference between him and me

What gives me the right?

Suddenly he leaves

I feel awful

Quick to follow

Wanting him to feel better

Wishing I had just kept the simple words to myself

Not wanting him to be upset

I didn’t want to say those things

But what made me?

Was it my lack of thought

Or just my stupidity seeping through at all angles?

At this moment I truly hate myself

What decision was triggered?

Why didn’t I walk the other way?

-Noah Springwater

“Surprise”

Sailing down though the wind

Showing off to whoever is watching

Smiling in the sunlight

Seeing the little house on the hill

Sliding up the hill towards the house

Crashing into the hill

Careening head over heels

Crunching of the little bone

Coming into the leg is an unbearable

Pain

-Chris Dienst

Can I ask you a question God?
