American History for the seventh grade is a survey course
emphasizing important themes:

- Revolution
- Government: Confederation, Constitution
- Maritime Trade
- Westward Expansion
- Civil War
- Big Business
- World War I
- Depression
- World War II
- Overseas Conflicts
- Civil Rights
The course is taught with the use of a textbook, American
Journey (Glencoe), and three ebooks:
Greece/Rome (Warner), Europe (Warner) and America, (Warner). In the fall,
students write a history term paper, most often on their family history;
in the spring, they take part in the Congressional Game.
The Congressional Game is a simulation of the United States
Congress in which states (three players) introduce bills for consideration
and adoption. Students use Internet and library sources for the research
involved.
