Spanish 8, Sections 1 & 3 Home

¡Bienvenidos a la página de Español
8, sección 1 y sección 3!
Welcome to Spanish 8, Section 1 and Section 3! In this
course you learn new material while reviewing what you learned in seventh grade Spanish.
Vocabulary and grammar are learned in context and your fluency in
Spanish increases. We play games, create short dialogues, watch movies, sing and
listen to songs, do un-graded journal writing and read stories. You will
learn how you best learn a language by doing listening, writing, reading comprehension and speaking
activities. We use our laptop computers to reinforce new material, complete
activities, and do games and projects as well as the Take Home Tutor and
Intrigas y Aventuras. Besides the language acquisition,
we learn about the countries, the people and the cultures of the Spanish-speaking
world.
We have class and homework five nights a week. By
the end of the year, we will have completed the textbook and workbook
En Español 2. You will be able to talk about all the subjects listed
on the 7th grade Spanish page as well as art, the media, family traditions
and celebrations, ways to stay fit and healthy, personal stories, beach
activities, household chores, giving advice, travel plans, doctor visits,
rooms of a house, furniture, giving and receiving directions, shopping
for clothes, asking for and giving opinions, nature and the environment, outdoor
activities, the weather, jobs and professions, interviews. We will be
able to use the present tenses, the preterit and the imperfect tenses,
the present subjunctive and command forms, indirect and direct object
pronouns, the future and conditional tenses, the present perfect and reported
speech.
Our Latin American Fiesta before the winter break is one
of our highlights, and in the Spring
we spend a wonderful day in the Mission District learning about the culture and
using Spanish with native speakers.
Remember the more you speak and think in Spanish, the closer
you will be to fluency!
