Projects
"Speedy" Cost Analysis
The project is designed for boys to compare the short and long-term costs of several different cars with respect to miles driven.  The students will focus only on the initial cost of purchasing the vehicle and the cost per mile to drive, based on it's reported gas mileage.

The boys will use the Kelly Blue Book website as a resource for researching the types of automobiles they will compare, and to retrieve pertinent information such as vehicle cost and average gas mileage.  They will use the project guidelines to fill out the research worksheet and complete the project, which will include making three separate graphs via Mathscribe.

Investment Project
This project demonstrates why investing money over time with compounding interest can be extremely beneficial due to the power of exponential growth.  The students will use the project guidelines to pick different ages at which they will start investing, as well as choosing their retirement ages.  They take out a percentage for taxes and work through a monthly budget investment worksheet so they get a realistic idea of how much money they would be able to invest annually.  The students use Excel to make spreadsheets and graphs to show how their money grows over time.   To find a realistic salary, click on this link
