Newton Laws Project - '06

At the end of October, the 8th grade Physical Science classes studied Newton's Laws of Motion. As a culminating activity, the students will begin their 2nd Annual Newton's Law Vehicle Project starting at the beginning of November.  This project will be spanned across a month of individual and group assignments on top of creating their vehicles.  Here is the Newton Law Project Rubric. Also included is a look at last year's 8th grades classes and their hard work throughout the whole project on the compilation, Newton Laws Project CD 2005.  Our 2nd Annual Brian Corvo Newton Invitational will be held on December 5, 2006 during the 8th grade double periods. All grade levels are encouraged to come and support our students hard work and achievements!!!!!

Rube Goldberg Crazy Patent Design Project and the Inventor Wanted Poster 2007!!!!

The 8th Grade is proud to show off their knowledge of work and simple machines by creating the wacky and zany Rube Goldberg Patent Designs for their 3rd Quarter Project.  They will have the opportunity to work, mentor, and facilitate this project along with the 2nd graders who will act as their "creative" source.  They will create the design and come before the "Patent" Board for their approvall!!!!! If you need help with remembering mechanical advantage of simple machines use this Mechanical Advantage of Simple Machines Guide.

We will end the Simple Machines Unit, with a creative Inventor Wanted Poster, in which they will research an inventor from different genres, cultures, and genders, who have pioneered and revolutionized the world in which we live in with their inventions. The posters should be turned in on Feb. 27th, to be displayed around the Science Wing of the school!!!!
