Extended Day Program

The Extended Day Program (EDP) is open to all grades until 6:00 p.m. each day and provides care within a safe, caring environment. Many fun activities such as art, board games, puzzles, Legos, blocks, computers, ceramics etc. are offered. The EDP program crosses grade levels and gives each child a chance to make new friends while building social skills and confidence. We encourage each boy to explore and grow through self expression and creative play. Kindergarten boys are picked up at their classroom by the EDP teacher and go to the EDP room for free play. First, second, and third graders come up and join the group later as classes are dismissed. Everyone has a snack and then it is time for outdoor activities. The boys like to play handball, baseball, soccer, football or basketball and are encouraged to organize their own games under the watchful eye of the teacher. Families sign up for Extended Day by semester according to the number of hours needed each week.

During the 2007-2008 school year, we will offer an extended day program for grades K-6. A variety of enrichment activities such as art, crafts, and games, as well as indoor and outdoor play, are offered in a structured, well-supervised environment. Some days, we have a chance to visit the computer lab. A quiet homework area is available at 4:00 p.m. for second grade and up, and we have an afternoon snack each day.

The first semester program will begin Thursday, September 6, 2007, and continue through Friday, January 18, 2008. The schedule will follow the Town School calendar with the program available on all regular days until 6:00 p.m. There will be NO extended program on the following days:

Boys must register by semester - the program is NOT available on a drop-in basis.

Fees: The extended day program is self-supporting with charges according to the number of days and hours the child is enrolled. Please indicate your needs on the registration form (PDF). The rates listed below are for Town School Extended Day - First Semester:

Care is available for those boys (Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grades) who plan to enroll in the Adventure Camp after school. This is an independent program separate from Town and is offered on various days by grade level. Please check with Adventure Camp (415-388-2216) for scheduling and fees. Boys can go to Adventure Camp and then be dropped off at the Extended Day Program when care is needed after the Adventure Camp program. Your son should be picked up no later than 6:00 p.m., which is closing time. At 6:01 p.m., a late fee of $1 per minute will be charged.

To register your son, please return the registration form (PDF) and emergency information form (PDF) with your check as soon as possible, as space is limited. Your payment should be received no later than September 6, 2007.
