Walter Douglas '69

    Walter Douglas is the Director of the Office of Press and Public Diplomacy in the Near Eastern Affairs Bureau at the Department of State.  In that position, Walter oversees the bureau’s public affairs efforts in the Middle East.  Prior to coming to that position in September, 2007, Walter was the public affairs officer at the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
   
Walter has also served as the public affairs officer at American diplomatic missions in Turkey, Cyprus and Iceland.  He has also been posted to the United States Mission to the United Nations and to American embassies in South Korea and Cote d’Ivoire.
     Prior to joining the foreign service in 1986, Walter worked for five years as an advertising executive in New York and for two years as a legislative assistant on Capitol Hill for a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
    Walter graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in history in 1977.  He graduated from the Cate School in Carpinteria, California in 1973.
    Walter, his wife Nancy and his three daughters currently live in Bethesda, Maryland.

Alumni Council
This group of eighteen alumni represent Town’s alumni in all matters dealing with the School. The President of the Council also serves on the Board of Trustees. Council meetings are open to alumni and are generally held on the second Tuesday of every other month in the School at 7 PM. Annual activities include a Downtown Luncheon, the Alumni Speaker Series, the Alumni Lacrosse event, and the awarding of three medals including the Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Spirit Award, and the Town School Medal, the last one in conjunction with the Town School Board of Trustees.
