 STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS: ELECTION SEASON IS HERE!
 If your 4th-7th grade son is interested in running for Student Council office for the coming year,  please see the flyers outlining the election schedule and the available offices. Students running  for office must attend one of two information sessions held Monday, May 10 at 7:45 am or  Tuesday, May 11 at 7:45 am.  "TINA TURNER" DANCE PARTY IS ON MAY 1st!!
 On Saturday, May 1st at the infamous SF WAX MUSEUM, some of  you will re-live that Town School Rocks! exciting moment where  "Tina Turner" rocked the house, and parents really let it loose  (remember the worm!?!  LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
 Your boys are reading like crazy! Library circulation is way up this year, which means that there  are lots more book returns that need to be organized and re-shelved. The Town School Library  is in desperate need of parent volunteers to help us with this task. If you're interested, contact  Laura Wolfram or Julie Alonso, or just drop by the library at a time that is convenient for you.
 
 ERB ANNOUNCEMENT:
 Students in Grades 3 through 7 will be taking the ERBs during the week of May 3 through May 6.  Please click here for more information, or email Pete Van Aucken with questions.
 
 AFFINITY & FRIENDS DINNER:
 The Asian American, Middle Eastern, and Pacific Islander affinity group would like to invite you to  join us for a potluck dinner! The event will take place on Tuesday, May 4 in the Dining Room from  6-8pm.  The last PA meeting for the 2009-2010 School Year is on Tuesday,  May 11th, 8:30-9:30 in the Dining Room. We will share fundraising  results for the year and announce the new Parents' Association  Leadership and Committee Chairs for the 2010-2011 school year.  Be There!!
 
THE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS IS THURSDAY, MAY 13:
 From 6:00-8:30 pm we will celebrate this year's theme of Art and  Food.  The festival is open to the entire family, with special  activities, refreshments and entertainment. There are many fun  volunteer opportunities; please click here to sign up for a shift  (quick & easy)!
 
 THE HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE IS ALSO LOOKING FOR DONATIONS  FOR THE ART FESTIVAL:

 THE DOWNTOWN SOCIAL HOUR:
 The second annual "downTown social hour," a networking event for the entire Town community,  is taking place at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, May 19th at the Solarium at 55 Second Street. Jeff  Heller of Heller Manus Architects will present "Coming Development in Downtown San Francisco  and Its Effects on the Neighborhoods and the Region." RSVP before May 5th to Peggy  Mitchell.

 We're celebrating our 60th Anniversary!!!
 Look out for extra savings in the store, and for a special school- wide event next Fall! Also, the last Curbside Drive of the school  year will beon May 26th and 27th (Wednesday and Thursday)

 at morning drop-off. Do a little pre-summer purge!! We especially need donations of childrens'  shoes, and spring jackets or outerwear.
 
 SAVE THE DATE FOR THE CLASS OF 2010 INQUIRY PROJECTS:
 The 8th grade students will present their inquiry projects on Thursday, May 27, 4:00 pm, just  before the Athletic Banquet. All are invited to attend!
 
 THANK YOU FROM THE BOOK DRIVE!
 The 7th grade boys delivered over 500 books to the Drew  Elementary school last week. The principal, teachers and students  are all excited about the opportunity to expand their book  collection. Thank you for your contributions!
 
 LOOKING AHEAD TO KINDERGARTEN 2011!
 Siblings applying to the 2011 academic year must turn five by July 15, 2011. If you will be  applying, please call Lynn McKannay at extension 125 and leave your son's name, date of birth  and the school he currently attends.

 Wednesday, May 26, 7:00-8:30pm is our annual Transition Night Meeting. You'll get to meet the  Upper School teachers and Dr. Cofod, hear an overview of the curriculum and programs, and  receive handouts detailing the "fine print" about 5th grade life next year.

 ATTENTION PARENTS OF THE CLASS OF '11:
 Thursday, May 6 at 6:30 pm is Secondary School Night for 7th Grade Families! Seventh grade  students are required to attend and sit with their families. Families will receive a description of  the secondary school application process, a timeline, and prepatory materials. There will be a  panel discussion by current 8th grade students as well as secondary school representatives.  ATTENTION PARENTS OF THE CLASS OF 2012:

 For your advance planning purposes, please note the following dates for the grade 7 Pinnacles  trip by the Class of 2012: 8:00 am Tuesday, April 26, 2011 to 5:00 pm Friday, April 29, 2011.  Please note as well the following dates for the grade 8 Yosemite trip by the Class of 2012:  11:00 am Sunday, September 18, 2011 to 4:30 pm Friday, September 23, 2011.

 
 SPRING CUMULATIVE ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT INFORMATION:
 Eighth grade students will  take two assessments (exams) each day on May 26, May 27, and  June 2. There are no early dismissals  for 8th grade. Details of the 7th grade schedule can be  found here. We will send out this memo  again with the specific exam rotation in early May.

 TOWN HAS PURCHASED RENEWABLE ENERGY CERTIFICATES!
 Town School has recently purchased Green-e Certified renewable  energy certificates (RECs) to cover 100% of its own electricity  usage! As part of a partnership with Green-e, we have also  become the first educational  institution to join the prestigious  Green-e Marketplace program, an initiative that recognizes  businesses and  organizations that are renewable energy leaders.  Green-e is a program of the Center for Resource Solutions
 (CRS), a non-profit based in the Presidio in San Francisco who is currently running a Buy Clean  Energy campaign focused on Earth Day 2010.  TOWN BOYS STARRING IN OAKLAHOMA! MUSICAL PRODUCTION:
 Come see five Town School Boys (Cal Crompton, Michael Garfagnoli, Zach Hollander, David  Masino, Matthew Schrage, Niels Schrage) in the Musical Theatre Works production of Oklahoma!  at the theatre in The Randall Museum May 27-May 30, 2010. Tickets are available for purchase  at www.musicaltheatreworks.org. Past performances have been sold out so you shouldn't wait  too long to buy your tickets!
