Summer Reading

Summertime is a great time to relax with a book.  Whether you're on the beach, in your living room, or in the backseat of the family car, there's nothing like a great book to liven up the long summer vacation.  No matter what you're doing during June, July, and August, there's always plenty of time for reading.  You can take a book anywhere, and likewise, a book can take you anywhere!

Upper School students should check with their Humanities or Literate Writer teachers about summer reading expectations. Their required reading lists are also posted on this page.

Upper School Required Reading:

The following reading lists provide some recommendations for books Town School boys and their families should enjoy.  These lists are organized by grade level and include a mixture of fiction and non-fiction titles.  Some of the recommended books are quick, easy "beach reads," while others may offer more of a challenge.

Although the Town School library is closed over the summer, most of the books on our reading lists are available from the San Francisco Public Library.  We also send copies of these lists to local bookstores, including Borders (downtown) and Books Inc. (Laurel Village, Chestnut Street, Opera Plaza).
