Town Crier

The Town Crier, Town’s student newspaper, is written and produced in its entirety in the school’s computer lab by 7th and 8th grade Desktop Publishing and Advanced Digital Design students. The publication is issued 4 times per year by these elective classes, whose editorial boards often solicit material from the greater student body as well as from their own ranks.

The Crier provides a backdrop for students to delve into the area of visual design and graphic arts on the computer as well as gain experience in writing for journalism. The many principles and practices of Desktop Publishing including design and layout, placement and control of text, typography and fonts, graphics, file formats, and digital photography are covered throughout the year.

Meeting once a week for a double period, The Crier allows students a level of autonomy and responsibility as they work together to create a publication that informs, entertains, and educates our community.
