All Student
Council events can be found on the main school calendar.
The Student Council serves as the voice for student leadership at Town
School. The Council is comprised of six upper school officers who serve
for the entire school year. The six offices are President, Vice President,
Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Sargeant-At-Arms.
Each homeroom also elects a president and vice-president who serve one
semester terms. The faculty sponsors are Nick Cofod, Meredith Landis, and David Kyle.
The Student Council sponsors free dress days, early morning
dodgeball games, faculty vs. 8th grade basketball games, and several
food sales during the course of the year. Funds raised by the Council are used
for various gifts to local, national, and international charities. The Council also helps lead and plan
performance assemblies.
Under the leadership of the Vice-president, the Student
Council also organizes the Student
Fair, held each year in February. In 2008, we raised over
$5000 for the SF SPCA and in 2009 we raised $5000 for the Fisher House
Foundation. Designed to provide a fun experience for Lower School
students, the Upper School students, teachers, and parents all worked
together to help run the booths and games.
In the past, the Council President has led the drive
to have shorts included in the dress code. After making a presentation
to the faculty and administration, shorts were introduced as an option
for the fall and again in the spring.
