Lower School Art Teacher
Susan Turner holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from University of Georgia.
Which of the Town School values (respect, curiosity, belonging, integrity and joy) do you most identify with, and why?
Curiosity! In my art making practice, curiosity is at the core of my work. Whether I am painting with encaustic paints or wiring branches together for an installation, I am constantly exploring new ways to manipulate materials. I often find as I work that it is my hands asking the questions of the materials and making the unintentional discoveries that push a piece to a new place.
What are your hobbies outside of school?
Hiking with my family, encaustic painting, charcoal drawing, going to see live music, and trying new restaurants.
