Curriculum Around Town--5th Grade Egypt Living Museum
On the last week of 2019, the 5th grade transported itself 3,000 years ago to the mythical land of Ancient Egypt.
They transformed the Tiger Room into a microcosm of different jobs and social classes, with each student taking on one of those unique roles, from the peasant farmer to the scribe to the artist to the pharaoh himself. The students researched their roles and wrote a speech describing their job, their importance, and their daily life. They then created their own museum space with a self-made costume, various props, and a poster reflecting their roles. Parents and teachers strolled through the Tiger Room listening to the boys present their speeches in their characters. They showed a great deal of excitement, passion, and dedication to their role, and gave Town School an excellent glimpse into the land of Egypt.
