The Art Resident Teacher position will not be available for the 2019-20 school year. Please check back in the fall of 2019 for more information about the Art Resident Teacher position.
 
All applicants must be college graduates and have some experience working with children, informal or volunteer work is welcomed. Applicants must be willing to commit to two full years at Town with a change in grade placement after the first year. The two-year commitment coincides with the school calendar, beginning in late August of the first year and ending in mid-June of the second year.
 
The New Teacher Institute places Resident Teachers into self-contained classrooms for kindergarten through fourth grades. There is a Head Teacher and Resident Teacher in each of the Lower School homeroom classes. The Art Resident Teacher works in ​both Lower School and Upper School while STEM and Humanities Resident Teachers teach in the Upper School (fifth through eighth grades). Each Resident Teacher is paired with a Head Teacher who serves as a mentor for the entire year.

Resident Teacher positions are full-time. For 2018-19, the first year Resident Teacher salary is $41,000, and the second year Resident Teacher salary is $42,000.  All Resident Teachers receive full medical and dental benefits. Coaching and tutoring opportunities are available for supplemental income. Salary information will be updated Spring 2019.

After application materials have been reviewed, applicants who have been selected for an interview and tour of the school will be contacted by the director. A visit to the school is required before final decisions can be made. Please note preferred dates of interview on the online application form if you are planning a trip to the San Francisco Bay Area. Interviews are generally held late February through April.
